The Port City Breastfeeding Project is an initiative of Women in the Center dedicated to the support and normalization of Breastfeeding in Southeastern North Carolina.
Mission: We believe quality public health begins with breastfeeding. We strive to help new parents successfully breastfeed through public awareness and education.
Goal: Every mother will leave the hospital with our bag of resources armed with the tools they need for a healthy and happy beginning.
Vision: We envision a community where all women have access to the support and education neccessary to improve rates of initiation and continuation of breastfeeding.
Each day millions of women are sent home with a bag provided by formula companies filled with samples and coupons for formula. Evidence based research shows that these bags have a negative impact on the initiation and continuation of breastfeeding.

We would like to recognize businesses that have gone "above and beyond" and and have shown exemplary suopprt for breastfeeding.
